Get Me to the Gravy: An InBetweenies Gratitude Challenge
Updated: 4 days ago

I've always wondered why we wait for a specific holiday or month to talk about gratitude. November rolls around and suddenly we're supposed to start thinking about what we're thankful for.
Why wait?
The good stuff isn't only happening in November.
It's happening on a completely ordinary Tuesday in September!
The first sip of coffee when it's the exact right temperature.
A song you forgot you loved.
Clean sheets that don't snag with your dry skin
The good parking spot.
Something your kid said that still makes you laugh three hours later.
Walking outside and realizing it doesn't feel like the surface of the sun anymore.
Those are the InBetweenies!!! The little things happening in between all the big things. And I want us to get better at noticing them.
Get Me to the Gravy
Starting October 1, I'm kicking off an InBetweenies gratitude challenge I'm calling:
Get Me to the Gravy.
Yes, I know.
And yes, there is actual gravy at the end.
From October 1 through Thanksgiving, we're going to notice the small things that bring a little good into our days.
That's the challenge.
No complicated rules.
No streaks.
No guilt because you forgot.
Notice the little things.
That's it.
What happens if I forget?
Then you forgot.
Welcome back.
Every Saturday, I'll post a Get Me to the Gravy Saturday Check-In.
Maybe you noticed something every day that week.
Maybe you noticed two things.
Maybe you see my Saturday post and realize you haven't thought about it once since the last one.
It's okay.
There is no catching up.
There is no starting over.
Notice the next one.
Because I don't want gratitude to become another thing we're supposed to be good at. The whole point is to pay a little more attention to the life we're already living.
Want somewhere to keep them?
This is why I created the InBetweenies Gratitude Journal.
It's a place to slow down, notice what's happening in your life, and hold onto some of the things that would otherwise disappear into another busy day.
And because I want as many people as possible to be able to do this with me, I've dropped the journal to $9.99 through September 30.
That gives you time to grab yours before we start October 1.
I'm giving one away, too
To kick this whole thing off, I'm giving away one InBetweenies Gratitude Journal.
And I'm not making you jump through seventeen hoops to enter.
That's it.
One InBetweenie or act of gratitude.
I'll choose one winner on Sunday 9/20/2026.
Okay, but what's with the gravy?
I promised you actual gravy.
And I mean it.
I've been making my Thanksgiving gravy the same way for years, and my kids prefer it over any other gravy. I make a metric shit ton of it every Thanksgiving.
There's a reason for that, too. When we make it to Thanksgiving, I'm giving you the recipe.
You get me to the gravy, I give you the gravy.
Seems fair.
Why I'm doing this
I don't want to wait until Thanksgiving to be grateful.
I don't want gratitude to be something we pull out for a few weeks every November and put away with the turkey platter.
There are too many little things happening between now and then.
Some days they'll be easy to notice.
Some days might suck, and the InBetweenie might be really small.
It still counts.
Life isn't lived in the milestones.
It's lived in the InBetweenies.
So we're starting October 1.
Grab a journal.
Use a notebook you already own.
Keep a note on your phone.
Write absolutely nothing down and simply start paying attention.
We'll keep noticing.
And eventually...
we'll get to the gravy.
